Abbey Bed and Breakfast

My one-night stay was awful. The owner seemed unwilling to take responsibility for what was happening in the B&B, and I wouldn't recommend staying here if you need a quiet night's sleep. The noise started around 9 PM, when some men gathered in the sitting area and talked loudly. Over the next three hours, I asked them three times to keep it down so we could sleep. They were either indifferent or hostile. Around midnight, they slammed the front door at least five times in ten minutes as they came and went. I then realised they were staying in the room above mine. After that, there was sexual activity for about 30 minutes, with everything, especially the beds, creaking. It finally went quiet around 1 AM. At 2:30 AM, one of the men was locked out without a key. He rang the doorbell, which called the owner, and pounded on the front door. Getting no answer, he went to the side door and banged there while shouting for someone to let him in. Then he returned to the front, beside my window, and knocked on it while yelling for us to open up. My wife had managed to fall asleep, but the commotion woke and scared her. The owner, who lives on the property, eventually answered and let him in. The owner then essentially blamed us for not requesting a “quiet room” and said he had “no responsibility for the conduct of his guests.” He called the men “fine Scottish gentlemen,” as though that excused their behaviour, and wouldn't offer any remedy or accept responsibility for what happened on his property. We booked a bed and breakfast to sleep, and this was a nightmare. The hot water didn't work either.
