We didn't stay, so I can't comment on the rooms. The location was handy, just half an hour's walk from our campsite, and the dog was made very welcome. The rest was disappointing. My first pint was awful, though they replaced it without any fuss since it was the first out of the pump. Still, shouldn't the pumps and pipes be cleared before serving? We ordered a ham ciabatta and a cheese one. The bread was hard for about a centimetre around the edges and had clearly been microwaved. The ham was okay, but the cheese was very odd, more like mozzarella than the advertised cheddar. The chips didn't arrive until we went back to ask, then came out quickly, but were hard and cold in the middle.

The village setting was lovely, and the meal was fantastic without costing too much. We came as a group for Sunday lunch while meeting up with a van club at a nearby campsite. The service was exceptional. We’ll be back, and I’d highly recommend a visit.

The staff were pleasant, the atmosphere was good, and the beer was nice. Lunch was the letdown: the vegetables were good and the roast potatoes were okay, but both the turkey and lamb were tough and had no taste. You can register your car inside, so there’s no need to pay for parking.

It’s a welcoming, pleasant enough pub, but they don’t show football there anymore. I’d gone in hoping to watch a match, then used Gemini to find somewhere nearby that had it on. If that’s what you’re looking for too, this pub won’t suit.
