Kiltearn Guest House

Ed made us feel very welcome when we booked at short notice for a single night. The guest house sits in a beautiful, peaceful spot on the Cromarty Firth. It would be ideal for a longer visit, with plenty of opportunity for walks and nature watching.

We had a very nice stay in this beautiful guest house, set in an amazing location. Ed was friendly and made a great breakfast.

We got there early, before our room was ready, so we went for a short hike. They gave us a trail map and information about the area's history, flora and fauna. We walked for about an hour and a half, dodging a rainstorm as another one threatened. Later we relaxed in the cosy breakfast sunroom while the rain came down and ate the charcuterie board we’d ordered for the evening. The tea tray and other offerings are worth considering. We loved the room, the house and breakfast the next morning.

We came for a family member’s birthday, and this grand old house was an ideal place for our older group. It felt like a family occasion, starting in the comfortable lounge before we were shown to our seats in the conservatory for afternoon tea. The locally produced and baked treats were delicious. The Cornish clotted cream was the one exception, but that’s the best cream, so they got that right! The ladies enjoyed some prosecco, and there was plenty of coffee for the drivers. A peaceful setting for family time with a bit of indulgence, thanks to the lovely people looking after this hidden retreat guest house. Recommended! We’ll be back in summer to enjoy the garden and sea views.
