Novar Arms Hotel

The food was the highlight for me. I gave the steak 10/10, the pizza 9/10, the cheesy chips a thumbs up, and breakfast 10/10. The menu for dinner is outstanding, and breakfast is out of this world, with everything butchered and made fresh to order. Jay the chef is a nice guy, and all the waiters and waitresses were friendly. The staff were welcoming and I had a good laugh with them during my four days here for work. At first I wasn't keen on the single bed, but the room had been booked for me, so I didn't get a choice. There is a pool table in the bar, which is handy if you're bored and want to get out of your room. The locals are friendly too, and it's a nice little bar. For me, this gem deserves five stars. I couldn't fault it, and it was central to where I was working.

We meant to stay just one night, but liked the place so much that we added a second. The people were incredibly kind, welcoming and helpful. The food was excellent, and spending time around the locals gave us a real feel for the area. A wonderful place to stay if you're visiting.

I'd stay here again if work took me north, probably for a night or two. It worked well for a quick stop, though a whole week might have felt less OK. The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was great, with generous portions and a choice of Scottish or English. Coffee was refillable, and there were takeaway cups for the day ahead. I had fish and chips both nights because the fish was fresh and cooked well. Portions were large. My room was a little dated but fine, and I slept well. My colleague's room had only blinds, so light came through. The hotel is in a quiet village, with a Co-op almost next door. Parking is out front or across the road.

A decent place to stay, or just stop in for food. The staff were warm and very friendly. Rooms are a bit dated and could use an upgrade, but they're comfortable enough. Breakfast was tasty, with cereal, fruit juice, fresh coffee and plenty of cooked options.
