Half Moon Inn

We made a very last-minute booking over the bank holiday weekend, looking for a pub and restaurant with rooms, and found the Half Moon. The garden was lovely in the good weather, and the staff were cheerful and helpful. We were told food orders stopped at 4.45pm, which was early for us, so it was disappointing to see people still ordering at 5.30 or 5.45. I can only assume they were locals, as staff greeted them by name. The food was nicely presented and good. My pork roast came with lots of meat and veg, though the roast potatoes were hard and rubbery. My husband enjoyed his fish and chips. We both had dessert, and the bottled wine was excellent. Breakfast the next morning was plentiful, with plenty to choose from. Our courtyard room was very basic, essentially in the car park. It was clean but dated and could use a refurbishment or some touch-ups. The bathroom window had no frosted glass, and we couldn't leave it open because it was easy to reach from outside. With no fan, the whole room got extremely warm. The bathroom was clean, but a lot of toilet paper had been stuffed into the ceiling corner above the shower. I can only guess there was a hole being filled in. The gravel car park also made the room quite noisy. Still, it was a pleasant stay.
