We came back after ten years to celebrate our tenth anniversary, having spent our honeymoon here. Sadly, it’s changed owners and hasn’t aged well. We paid just under £200 a night for two nights for the two of us. I know it’s a two-bedroom lodge with a hot tub, but it doesn’t feel as luxurious as it used to. Checking in at 4pm and leaving at 9am doesn’t feel like good value, especially when guests are also asked to strip the beds. The mattress was so firm I felt bruised. The hot tub had no bubbles and the jets kept coming out. On Saturday morning the owner came over to put tablets in it, interrupting what was meant to be a romantic weekend. Next door, a party disturbed the peaceful setting all Saturday evening until they were told to turn the music off at 11pm. The bathrooms were mouldy and run down, which is a shame given how beautiful the location is. You used to be able to buy eggs, bacon and other things from the farm, but that’s no longer offered. Diss high street is a ten-minute walk away, with a good choice of shops, pubs and cafés. It’s lovely being somewhere rich in nature, with wildlife all around. The owner was pleasant and helpful when we arrived, but we feel the place has lost its charm.

We felt relaxed as soon as we arrived at this secluded countryside spot. It’s peaceful but still close to amenities. The grounds were neatly kept, with lots of birds to watch, and the kitchen was well equipped. The friendly owners were available when needed, such as when we needed a new light bulb. We hope to return.

There’s plenty of room, and it’s just a short walk into Diss. A great place to stay.

We stayed in Skylark lodge for a weekend and got exactly the peaceful break we wanted. The lodge was spotless and had everything we needed, and the hot tub was clean and warm. Amy made us feel welcome. The field was full of wildlife: a barn owl flew around and right up to the lodge each night, and we also saw hares, deer and plenty of other birds. We’ll definitely be back.

Diss is just a few minutes away by car, with everything you might need during a stay, but the lodges themselves were wonderfully peaceful. We didn’t see anyone else while we were there, which suited us perfectly. Our lodge at Oak farm lodges was clean, spacious, cosy and comfortable, with a great hot tub on the veranda. The frying pans and baking trays had seen better days, though. We had a wonderful stay.
