Holiday Inn Express Doncaster

The reception team are lovely, and breakfast was great. The beds were okay too. But the WiFi kept dropping, making it hard to work or stay on Teams calls, and nobody from room service cleaned my room. The climate control didn’t work either, so the room got extremely hot even in the middle of winter.

I know what to expect from a Holiday Inn Express, much like a McDonald’s, and don’t expect anything extra. This stay still went badly. The room window was open when I arrived, and the thermostat showed 13°. I thought it would warm up, but after four hours it was only 15°. I ended up sleeping in my sweater and socks just to get through the night. I reported the problem at reception, but didn’t feel anyone cared. The biggest letdown was the duty manager, who knew there was an issue but didn’t actively try to sort it out. I was travelling with a group, and we all had the same problem, so it wasn’t just my room. The hotel fell short of what I expected, I slept badly, and the manager seemed clueless. Problems can happen, but someone needs to tackle them.

The room was on the quiet side above the car park, though it was a bit warm. Staff were friendly and helpful, the bed was comfortable, and breakfast was tasty and included. Good value for money.

We were happy with our stay and would come back. The place was very clean, the staff friendly, and breakfast decent with plenty of food. It’s close to the wildlife park and Doncaster, and parking is free. I was there with my three kids.
