Kings Chamber, Doncaster by Marston's Inns

The staff were excellent and the beer was nice, which saved this from a one-star rating. Ordering from the table was a hassle: I had no phone signal, and joining the pub WiFi took a while because the connect button was off screen and I had to scroll to find it. My discount code didn’t work either. The manager tried another one, but that was rejected too, so I ordered at the bar. The food came quickly, but my sirloin was completely tasteless, like cardboard. The peppercorn sauce added nothing, and the chips were barely cooked.

We always come to Kings Chambers, even though there’s a Marstons closer to us, because the staff are great from the moment we arrive. This time we had lunch before the Halloween Party. It came very quickly, was cooked just right, and there was a good mix of meals. My Grandson loved the spider burger. The party cost a small amount per child, but the kids got loads: decorated tables, a goodie box each, games with sweets as prizes, a disco, juice and cookies. They were entertained the whole time.

We came in on the way past because the kids were hungry. It was our first visit, but we’d go back. The food was tasty, with a good choice and just-right portions, and dessert was good too. The staff were lovely with the kids, and the little play area was tucked away nicely. Mine were loud and overstimulated while waiting, so I was glad they could play without bothering other diners. The place was clean and well presented, with menus and cutlery ready on the table. The car park was clean, the entrance was easy to spot, and the signs inside were clear, even though finding the door in the dark with two kids could’ve been tricky. The toilets were exceptionally clean. A really lovely pub.

We had a fantastic New Year’s Eve here and would definitely go again. Families can enjoy the party together, and the entertainment was great. The staff were pleasant and helpful all evening. There was lots of food to choose from, including gammon and turkey for sandwiches, and it was delicious. They also offered Prosecco when we arrived and orange mixed with lemonade for the kids, a lovely touch. Highly recommend it.
