Donnington Hotel, Spa & Golf

The spa had great table service, though on a weekend there were lots of kids around, even at 5pm, and it was sad to see them filling up the jacuzzi. Many spas have a 16 age limit for children in the jacuzzi. The food was delicious and included in our deal, while drinks were pricey, as you’d expect at a hotel. We stayed in gorgeous rooms, and there were plenty of nice shared spaces, including a cosy two-storey bar, games room, TV/chess room and jigsaw room. The free robes came in just one size, which wasn’t nearly big enough for my tall husband. We asked for a larger one but there weren’t any. I’m 5ft 2 and mine wasn’t especially roomy either, so a bigger one-size option might work better. The wheelchair ramp was very long and seemed too close to reception. My husband tripped over it. The lifts could also do with an update. Even so, we had a lovely stay.

Dinner was beautifully cooked and felt very high class, with stunning dining decor. We followed it with mojito cocktails and champagne, and were very well looked after throughout the evening. The staff were welcoming, check-in was seamless, and the management team communicated well and were really helpful. What an amazing night, highly recommended.

We came as a group for a spa day, and while most of our treatments were really good, a couple fell short. I shared that with the manager, Nikki, and really appreciated how warmly and thoughtfully she handled our concerns. She focused on putting things right, and did, so we could actually leave feeling relaxed. So appreciated.

Becky and Kirsty gave us wonderful massages, just what we needed, and the spa had everything for a relaxing afternoon. At dinner, the food was full of flavour, beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The Restaurant Manager/Sommelier was attentive, knowledgeable and genuinely friendly, which made our anniversary evening special. The bar staff deserve a mention too, as the service was consistently good throughout the hotel. From arrival, everyone was welcoming and friendly, and the hotel was spotless. Housekeeping left a thoughtful note in our room welcoming us and remembering our upcoming wedding. It was a wonderful overnight stay at Donnington, a perfect short getaway that left us relaxed. We look forward to visiting again. Shawn & Elaine
