The evening meal and breakfast were both excellent, with generous portions, good ingredients and everything cooked really well. Staff were super friendly and the service was great. Our room was spotless, and the bed was huge and comfortable. The shower room was pretty small, though understandable in an older building. It worked for us as we're both small, but could be awkward for a bigger person. We stayed one night using an Itison voucher deal that covered breakfast and £40 to spend on food and drinks. After we left, we got a call about missing bath sheets. Housekeeping hadn't supplied them, but we hadn't asked because we thought the two towels in the shower room were just small bath towels to suit the room. I'd recommend the hotel for an overnight stay or a meal if you're nearby. The Fife Coastal Path route has stunning scenery. We took the X 58 bus from St Andrews, which left at 13 minutes past the hour on weekdays and took around 25-30 minutes to reach Upper Largo.

We tried the Christmas dinner menu and came away very disappointed, especially for what they charge. The turkey was dry, and the vegetables seemed frozen rather than fresh, apart from the roast potatoes. The stuffing looked like it had been sliced off a big roll, and the pudding seemed shop-bought and was warmed in a microwave. The portions were good, and the staff were friendly, but they weren't dressed in a way that matched those prices. Some of the food didn't seem homemade, and there wasn't enough effort put into freshly cooked dishes. This place is trying to be something it isn't, and it's way overpriced.

The haddock and chips deserve a mention, and the spiced apple and plum crumble with custard was lovely too. There's a great choice on the menu, and I reckon you could pick anything and enjoy it. The food and staff were excellent, and the restaurant is well worth a visit.

We went to a wedding here on Saturday. The hotel is lovely and has a great outdoor space, and the staff were attentive, taking care to get all the details right. Crossing the road safely from the other car park was the one downside. There's a blind corner, and it took us a while to get across.

The car park is split across both sides of a busy road, so take care when crossing. The restaurant was comfortable, though busy, and there was a good range of drinks. We had an excellent Sunday lunch, a fantastic plate of food for a great price.
