Chris was a warm, helpful host and answered our questions about the area. We were just passing through Dorchester and found this a great-value overnight stop, right by the river and close to pubs, fish and chips, and other amenities. The room was neat and nicely presented, and the pub had a welcoming, classic inn feel.

We were a party of six and all happy with our meals before seeing Emily Jean play. There was a good range of straightforward pub food, served hot, in generous portions, and presented nicely. Service was relaxed, which suited us. I like that the food didn’t arrive too quickly, as it suggested it had been cooked fresh.

A laid-back little pub with a decent range of wines and beer, and probably the lowest prices in Dorchester. You can eat there Tuesday through Saturday, and there’s outdoor seating too. Well worth a visit if you’re in town or live nearby.

The pub’s now under new management and has nicely priced drinks. It’s a pleasant place, though the kitchen isn’t open at the moment.

We ate well here, especially the beef burger, which was cooked just right. The food was hot, tasty, nicely presented, and there was a good choice on the menu. Staff were extremely friendly. Out back, the patio was lovely, with fresh geraniums on the tables, a terracotta pot for smokers, and drinking water brought out for our dog. Friends stayed overnight and were very happy with the accommodation. It’s good value too, with food, drinks, and a bed for about the price of a double room a few yards away. I’d definitely recommend the pub and a stay.
