The Frogmill

The relaxed atmosphere and breakfast were standouts. It was the best breakfast we’ve had on our many trips away. We spent a long weekend in January after Christmas with another couple, and all of us were impressed by the friendly, helpful staff. The location also made it easy to get around the Cotswolds. We hadn’t heard of this hotel group before, but after how much we enjoyed The Frogmill, we’ll try some of the others too. We’d happily return here.

As regular guests and members of the frogmill, we’d gladly recommend it. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the attention to detail is amazing. On this visit, my main course wasn’t up to its usual standard, so I sent it back. It didn’t come back before my family had finished eating, but our server went above and beyond to make sure we left happy, arranging for all the other meals to be free. We wouldn’t hesitate to return. Well done to everyone for doing such a good job in a tough industry. Congratulations.

The evening meal was the best part of our night, with high-quality food and a nice atmosphere in the bar. We stayed one night in a deluxe double with our dog. The property is lovely, in a peaceful, picturesque area, and our room was clean, comfortable and well decorated. The bar staff were friendly and helpful. When our food was delayed, they kindly gave us a round of drinks, which we appreciated. There were a couple of snags. The meal took about 1.5 hours to arrive even though the restaurant didn’t look very busy, and for a while it seemed we’d been forgotten. Soon after we got to room 16, a nearby dog kept whining, which unsettled our dog and made it harder to relax after the long journey. Staff dealt with it quickly once we mentioned it, though it would have been better if they’d handled the issue with the staff or owners dog before we had to report it. We enjoyed the stay and the setting is excellent, but £221 for the room plus a £20 dog charge felt a little high for the experience. The food quality made the price acceptable, though the service lapses are worth addressing to bring the stay in line with the premium rate.

The welcome and service at The Frogmill were friendly, attentive and never felt forced. For our first visit to the Cotswolds, it made a lovely impression. The setting is beautiful and peaceful, and the rooms were comfortable. Everything felt thoughtfully handled throughout the stay, giving our trip a great start. We couldn’t have asked for a better introduction, and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommended.
