The horses around the grounds were lovely, and the whole stay felt special. Nicola and James made us feel so welcome, with plenty of stories and thoughtful touches throughout. They put real care into breakfast, including wonderful vegan meals Nicola made for us. The historic house has loads of charm, and it’s in a gorgeous part of the world.

We only wished we’d booked more time. Breakfast was lovely, with homemade jams and fresh bread, and our hosts were full of good tips for places to eat and visit. The period house is beautiful, and they made us feel welcome from the start.

James gave us really useful ideas for places to see, and Ballymote House was well placed for Strangford Lough and the Mourne Mountains. We had a comfortable room and a fab breakfast during our lovely two night stay.

We stayed in the Curtis suite, where the super king bed was unbelievably comfortable. James and Nicola were wonderful hosts, and breakfast had lots of delicious choices. With the countryside around Downpatrick and all the historic charm of Ballymote Country House, it made a lovely spot for a relaxing weekend. We’d highly recommend staying here.

The location was fantastic, and the people were lovely. We had a beautiful house full of history and a bedroom with everything we could have wanted. The hosts were so thoughtful and helpful, and breakfast was hard to beat: home preserves, fresh baked bread, and excellent bacon and sausages. Highly recommend.
