“Unacceptable in 2025.” The central location and the check-in staff were good, but that's about all I can praise. I wasn't expecting a state-of-the-art room, yet this was well below par and the hotel badly needs modernising. My room was small, with an uncomfortable bed and pillows, and an en-suite that needs upgrading. The bedding and carpet were clean, but there were cobwebs and the remote was disgusting. The layout wasn't thought through: no lamps, just two bright spotlights besides the main light, no sockets by the bed, and a heating system that looked like it belonged in the Black Country Living Museum. It was noisy too, right beside the service yard. For one person on a Sunday night, £90.75 with parking and no breakfast is top whack. Best Western has seriously neglected what could be a good boutique hotel. Only stay if there are no other options.

The rooms were very clean and tidy, and the staff were lovely. I asked for extra tea and coffee, and got free hot chocolate as soon as we arrived. The car park is pay and display, though it's free for blue badge holders, so ignore the bad reviews.

The bar area was lovely, but our stay at this Best Western hotel was disappointing. The rooms felt dated, smelled musty and weren't especially clean. There was a breakfast mix-up too, and we weren't satisfied with how it was handled.

The rooms are looking rather tired, though that's what you'd expect at a Best Western. The location is great, right in the heart of Lichfield, with easy parking at Bird St car park. For a hotel in Lichfield, the George and the Premier Inn are similarly priced. The George is better located, while the Premier is more modern.

I was here for a family wedding and had a first floor room facing Bird Street. It smelled damp, and I hardly slept all weekend because of the noise coming in from outside. A bar or club opposite stayed open until 2am, then people argued outside after it closed. From 4.15am there was a street cleaning machine, a bin wagon and delivery trucks.
