Mill Farm Shepherds Hut

We found another campsite in the end, and it turned out to be the best one. When we spoke on the phone about availability for the bank holiday weekend, you asked what dog we had. We have a 13-year-old Japanese Akita, and suddenly there was no room for us. Please be honest next time and say you can’t accept us because of our dog, instead of suddenly saying there isn’t space for all of us.

The private woodland walk, with benches and a dog poop bin, was a lovely feature. The beach is a 3-minute drive or a 15-minute walk, and Mr Moos ice-cream parlour is a short drive away. We had generous, level pitches, and the toilet and shower block was cleaned regularly. The owners were very friendly and helpful. They showed us the key facilities and advised us on a couple of pitches, as we arrived just as August's first named storm was starting. Thanks to their advice, we got through gusts of more than 50 mph.

The owner gave me a warm welcome, showed me around and explained the facilities. The views were stunning, and the whole campsite felt really peaceful. Everything was clean and well looked after. I had an amazing week there.

There was no night-time noise, and we got a lovely caravan pitch on this quiet site. The lady who greeted us was welcoming and very helpful. We enjoyed the dog walk through the woods, and the village is nearby, with a shop and pub. The castle is within walking distance too. The toilets and showers were very clean. We'll definitely return, thanks for an enjoyable stay!
