The Milking Sheds, Dufftown

It was easy to unwind here, thanks to the very quiet setting, and we found the room spacious and comfortable. A few distilleries are within walking distance, with restaurants and a small grocery shop nearby. We could also make a simple meal in the room since everything we needed was available. Good value for the price, and we’d happily stay here again if we come back to the area.

The information Louise and James sent ahead of time, including ideas for things to do around the area, made planning our trip much easier. They’d also left the essentials for us, so we could get the kettle on straight away. Shops and takeaways are only a minute or two away on foot, and we enjoyed walking into town. The Milking Sheds was warm, spotless, spacious, and really comfortable, with a fantastic cottage in a great spot. We had a brilliant long weekend in mid-October and have already booked to come back next year.

Wee Kalf Shed made a handy base for exploring the whisky region, and I’d come back. It’s spacious and clean, with good wifi, a comfy bed, and a decent TV. Whisky Capital bar & food is just around the corner; Seven Stills Restaurant and bar is a little gem about five minutes away on foot. The Shed also pointed me to Martina Ayres, Craigellachie Cars for distillery rides, and that was a great recommendation. Two or three nights in Dufftown is enough, though.

Our stay was really enjoyable, even with a few unrelated difficulties, and the hosts helped make it that way. They were warm and welcoming, and the accommodation was good quality. It’s a nice self-catering place right in the heart of dufftown, the world whiskey capital, close to Glenfiddich, the Speyside cooperage, and other local sights. We loved being here and hope to stay again.
