I stopped in on a Tuesday around 2 and had a lovely lunch. I went for sausage, egg and chips with sourdough bread and butter on the side. The sausages from the local butcher were delicious, and everything else on the plate was great too. The portions were generous. The menu is extensive, so I’d happily go back to try something else. The staff were friendly and pleasant, too. A lovely pub visit.

A lunch stop along our walking route turned out to be one of the best meals my wife and I have had in ages. We were staying nearby this week and had booked at The Talbot. It was a quiet Monday, and the staff were so helpful and pleasant when we arrived early. We settled in by the fire with a drink, enjoying the pub’s traditional feel and charm. My wife had the chicken pie and I ordered the burger. Both were delicious, and the quality was outstanding, with lots of ingredients sourced locally or on site. The team made us feel completely at ease. We could have stayed longer if we’d had the time. We’ll book again if we’re in the area.

After long walks in the countryside, coming back to a blazing log fire at a 15th-century inn was a real treat. The home-brewed beer and fantastic food made it even better. We stayed three nights and had a fantastic time. Breakfast was excellent, and the pub food was really good, but it was the fun, friendly service we appreciated most. A lovely place. I hope it keeps thriving.

Rob and his team did a great job, and the service was spot on. We stayed for two nights recently and met locals in the bar who shared some history. The building has loads of character and a long history, and the food and beers were excellent. Tom deserves a big thanks for looking after us in difficult circumstances. The old room we had was a head-spinning maze of uneven floors, which is part of the building's age. It's been in good hands for over 35 years, and they've done a great job, but the older rooms really need a full update. Whoever takes over when it's sold will have their work cut out. If I were ten years younger, I'd see it as a challenge. I'd definitely return, but would insist on one of the updated rooms so I could enjoy Rob's food again.

The rooms were fine for the one night we stayed, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was nicely prepared with fresh ingredients. We only popped into the pub for a nightcap, but next time I'd like to try the restaurant. The food looked really good as we walked past other diners. It's a beautiful spot with lovely surroundings, and I hope to explore more of the area on a future visit. Thanks, keep up the good work 😊
