The setting is stunning, right on the river, with a huge garden and loads of indoor and outdoor seating. The pub is beautiful, with a great choice of food and drinks. Our group tried most of the menu, and everyone was happy with their meal. Many thanks to Steph, Darren and all the awesome staff at The Anchor 😉

We only pulled in with the campervan for the night, but ended up having a cracking evening. The meal was really good, and we got talked into joining quiz night. Best night I've had in ages. Thanks for the lovely company, ladies, you know who you are 🥰

We hadn't been to the Anchor for a while, though we'd been coming and going for over 30 years, and chose Support a Local Business Saturday for a meal. As soon as we walked in, the people in the bar stopped talking and stared, which felt odd. Then we were shown to a table well away from everyone. The food was a real letdown. I've had the steak there on previous visits, but this one was awful. I'd asked for medium rare, though it was cut so thin it was hard to cut. My son got belly pork that was a soggy, fatty mess, and even the crackling was undercooked. My wife's curry looked bad and tasted worse, with no flavour at all. We didn't raise it then because that would have made things awkward. We finished our drinks, and my wife tried to pay. We paid the full bill and weren't after a refund, but she had to ask several times for an itemised receipt. Just under £100 wasted. We won't be going back.

We stayed overnight in the camper van in the car park. The locals were really friendly, the food was nice and reasonably priced, and we had great fun after being invited to join the inter-pub quiz. A lovely evening.

The portions were generous and the Sunday roast was delicious. We'll definitely go back.
