The landlady was lovely, kind, friendly and helpful. She even offered us bikes to explore the area, which was great. The neighbourhood is beautiful, with lovely scenery that makes you feel close to nature, and the location is handy for the lake and nearby small towns. We stayed three nights and enjoyed it a lot. There were enough basic necessities and utensils for four people. It’s a decent place, and I’d absolutely recommend it.

It’s a rural, picturesque setting, but only about a mile from Dumbarton and its supermarkets and other amenities. The apartments are handy for the castle and other Dumbarton attractions, Glasgow, and Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park right on the doorstep. The self-catering apartment was very clean, comfortable and well equipped.

We loved our stay. The cottage is quiet, with fields and horses and cows around it. It’s hard to believe the A82 is so close. The place is small but very well equipped for its size, and Marcella was an easy person to deal with, a perfect host. It’s handy for exploring nearby. Loch Lomond is only ten minutes away and Glasgow about half an hour. If we return to Dumbarton, we’ll definitely try to stay here again.

Cottage 3 was so disappointing that I was ready to leave. The small bathroom had a bad drain smell, and the bedroom felt old and tired, as if it needed a lot of TLC. I was moved to cottage 2, a studio, which was nice and clean. It had no windows for views of the farm, just a skylight. Loch Lomond is a good fifteen-minute drive away.

Marvela welcomed us when we arrived, and she’d also given clear directions for checking in ourselves in case she wasn’t there. Everything went smoothly, from booking and following her directions to the bungalow through to checkout. It’s a cosy place with a double bedroom, small kitchen, good bathroom and a nice living room, where there’s the option of a put-up bed for a third person. It had everything we needed for our trip around Scotland.
