Boreland Farm

Fields, meadows, a river and a forest are right outside this lovely little cottage, in the middle of nowhere. If you want to get away from tourists, it's a great fit. The hosts are the most wonderful and friendly people you could wish for. My one downside was the bed. It was two single beds pushed together, at slightly different heights, and wasn't very comfortable.

The host, Phillipa, was very accommodating, and breakfast in her house was delicious, served in a properly rustic kitchen. I had a comfortable stay on a business trip, and the location worked well. My room had three beds to choose from. The only drawback was that the shower pressure wasn't great.

A cosy, lovely wee cottage where you can get away from the noise and chaos of everyday life. It's a wee bit out of the way, but you get incredible views, walks right on your doorstep and a warm welcome.

Simon let me search the fields with my metal detector, which delighted me. We stayed for two days at Boreland Farm, where Simon and Phillipa were really friendly and made time to chat despite their busy farm work. Our room had two windows looking out over lovely countryside. It's a working farm, so it was great to see the chickens running around and the family horses. Breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day. If we're back that way, we'll definitely stay at Borelands farm again. Alex and Susan
