The hostess is so warm and welcoming, and there's a very friendly dog too. Our room was lovely, neat and very clean. The shower room was spotless, and there were all the bathroom and kitchen utensils we needed. You can order breakfast as well, and it's filling enough to keep you going for half a day. The house is very close to the train station for Edinburgh and other places.

Debbie was amazing. I got stranded at Perth station after work, and she came to get me at 1 am. I can't thank her enough. The room was cosy, breakfast was great, and I was so happy to find a view of her lovely garden from my bedroom. I had a great time and felt at home. It was just as described, a homely bed and breakfast. Some complaints in other reviews don't seem realistic to me; it looks like some people book without reading the description or even the title first.

I was glad to leave, and so were the other guests. The landlady was very unwelcoming and acted as if she was paying me to stay. She refused to make breakfast on Sunday, when nowhere else was open for breakfast, and was a pain to deal with. She listened in on conversations with other guests and came into another guest's bedroom while I was there chatting, asking why I was in there. She told a man he was influenced by the devil because he'd had one can of beer. He was visibly upset, and I had to console him. Whenever I was eating breakfast, she came into my room to adjust windows and so on. She gave me a cool box for food but never offered to freeze the cool blocks once they thawed. She expected me not to use the one chair to take my shoes off because, as she said, “that is where I dry the dogs,” even though the hall was spacious enough to do it elsewhere. The dining room was freezing every morning and very draughty, but she insisted on leaving the door open. I would never recommend anyone stay there. She also commented on other one-star reviews, saying that if you haven't booked there you cannot review. She is quite a liar and refused to give me a receipt for meals and a few extras I had. She behaves as if she is paying you to stay, so you have to think yourself lucky to be there. No thanks.

Debby was such a kind, lovely host. My mom and I stayed one night at the start of this year while travelling. It was a small, tidy room in her own little house, so it feels very private. If you're happy to feel like part of the family, this place is just right. We were the only guests, so we had the usually shared bathroom all to ourselves, and breakfast in the morning was continental. I think we'll come back one day.

I was disappointed that it didn't feel as private as I'd hoped. It felt awkward, like staying at a relative's house for the first time. The rooms are small and close together, and the walls are thin enough that you can hear someone snoring next door. The owner was annoying and nosy, and spoke in a condescending tone that wasn't pleasant. There were so many annoying restrictions, and breakfast could have been better. I'm not especially afraid of spiders, but there were many crawling on the floor. I even found one in the bathtub when I went to shower, which creeped me out a little.
