Cohannon Inn

I really liked how peaceful and quiet it was when I stayed. It’s a perfect overnight stop if you’re in the area. The food was really good, though I might have liked a few more options.

The room looked okay, but some things felt odd and it wasn’t well maintained. A little fridge sat on a bit of old plywood beneath a nice sideboard, and it was unplugged when we arrived, so it was no use for our one-night stay. The wall heater was unplugged too, and the room stayed freezing until about 3 or 4 a.m., when it had finally warmed up. The entrance is behind the bar and restaurant, but there was nobody at reception during the day. With a two-star rating, I think the prices should be lower.

The service is alright until it’s time for the food. This has happened twice, on separate occasions: they say they’re bringing the gravy or sauces, then wander about until you have to get up and ask. Last time my food was cold by the time I got them. This place has really gone downhill.

The rooms were a little dated, though they did the job. What let us down was the food supplied for the group tour. The à la carte meals looked much better. I know group tours often have tight budgets, but just pasta with tomato sauce isn’t a proper main course when you’ve chosen the vegetarian option.
