Stevie made a huge difference to our wedding day at The SugarBeat Eating House. From sorting out the schedule and set-up to helping take the decorations down, he stayed calm, attentive, and generous with his time, which took a lot of pressure off us. The marquee was just what we’d pictured, and our guests kept saying how lovely the setting was. The staff were friendly and professional all day and evening, always ready to help. We went with the BBQ, and people are still talking about how good it was. Stevie also suggested freshly made pizzas from the outdoor oven later on for our extra guests. They were cooked to order and went down brilliantly. We’re so grateful to Stevie and everyone at The SugarBeat for a day we’ll remember for years. We’d happily recommend it as a wedding venue.

We loved that the day could be shaped around our budget, and that The Sugarbeat is family run and tries to source its produce locally. Food needs were handled thoughtfully and without fuss, including allergies, intolerances, and preferences. The four-choice BBQ for 120 was served on time, with generous, tasty portions. We held the ceremony and evening reception in the marquee, with the sides up because it was so hot. We could get there early to set up, and guests said staff dealt with any requests straight away and were genuinely helpful. From our first enquiry, communication was quick, clear, and useful. Stevie said the day would be ours and that he’d do his best to fit our wishes, and he followed through. We used three of the four bedrooms. Every one was spotless and had what we needed, including air conditioning. The beds were really comfortable and everyone slept well. I only wish the rating allowed more than five stars. For a professional, good value venue for a wedding or other celebration, I’d book soon.

Elle gave me a lovely welcome when I arrived, and the rest of the staff were great too. The room had all those thoughtful touches that can be missing elsewhere: fresh milk in the fridge, a kettle you could fill under the tap, and a bathroom mirror at a sensible height. The air con was a real help in the heat, and the bed was comfortable. I’ll stay again when I’m in the area.

I’ve stayed at The Sugarbeat many times over the years and have never had a bad visit. The location works well for me, just south of the city on the 140, five minutes from the A47, with North Norfolk easy to reach and South Norfolk and Suffolk even closer. The staff, including Steve and the team, are excellent, and front of house keeps things running smoothly. Service is spot on, and a tip on the bill is well deserved. There have been a few changes since my last stay, all for the better. The room now has very good air conditioning, which is welcome since it used to feel a bit warm. There’s also a little fridge with complimentary milk and Spring water. Rooms are spotless, the beds are comfortable, and there are plenty of pillows. Even the loo roll is proper quality, better than what I have at home. The shower deserves a heads-up: the water gets properly hot, so check it before stepping in, and the pressure is just right. No lukewarm dribble here. Dinner last night was excellent. The food has always been very good, but something seems to have changed and this meal really impressed me. When I can’t get a room here I’ve stayed at dunston hall nearby, but I think the food at the beat is much better, and the rooms too, for up to £50 less.

Only stayed the one night, but it was a lovely stay. The room was clean and comfortable, breakfast in the morning was really nice, and everyone on staff we spoke to was friendly and pleasant.
