I spent four nights here while working in Durham, and the location made getting into the city easy. The Cathedral is just minutes away. Everyone I dealt with, from check-in to breakfast and the bar, was excellent. My room was massive, with a lovely bathroom and what seemed to be two showers. Dinner was the one letdown: the menu is limited and the food wasn't great, though it was edible. For the price, I expected better. Parking is paid on site; I don't know the rates since my company covered it. I'd recommend the place and would be glad to come back.

Breakfast is good, but the other food was very poor, so I'd go elsewhere for meals. The rooms are fairly spacious and clean, and there's paid parking. It's well placed for a stay in Durham. Think of it as a good Premier Inn, rather than a full service hotel.

Three of us shared a room with two double beds for six nights while helping our daughter move into her apartment for University. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, though the bed felt a bit hard. The modern bathroom was generously sized, clean, and had great water pressure. The restaurant food was delicious, and happy hour at the bar was a welcome bonus. Onsite parking was convenient and reasonably priced. The hotel has a cozy feel and an exceptional location, and the staff, especially at the front desk, were courteous, helpful, and accommodating. Highly recommend it for the value.

The old building has plenty of historical character, and the reception wall photos tell its story. But the rooms are dated and worn, and really need refurbishing. The uneven, creaky floorboards may bother you. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the location is handy for Durham's sights and close to the prison if you're visiting for business. All in all, I'd come back.

We got a lovely view over the river from our very nice room, which also had a powerful shower. Its position close to town and the amenities was the best part. Parking was convenient and reasonably priced. Breakfast for two was only £18 when added to the room, and the staff in the huge dining room were very nice. The breakfast was OK, though there was no decaf proper coffee that we could see, and we didn't ask. Gluten-free toast was available on request. Highly recommended as good value.
