The bed was fantastic and we slept really well. The shower was great, with nice hot water, and there were lovely big, thick towels. Parking is just outside the front door, though the spaces filled up quickly in the evening. We were initially very pleased with the small but well-equipped cottage. The key was in a keybox, and we got the code the day before arrival. After our long journey, we went to use the bathroom and found the floor around the toilet marked and in need of a quick mop. The whole kitchen needed cleaning too: one glass had sticky black liquid in it, the mugs needed washing, and the microwave and oven were dirty. There were crumbs in the cutlery drawer as well. We noticed the glass before using it. With a dishwasher there, it was hard to understand why the glasses and mugs were left dirty. Such a shame, as everything else was good. I'd recommend the cottage and return, but it needs better cleaning.

John, the owner, was fantastic during the refurbishment: he kept us updated, answered every question quickly, and gave us a really good deal. The cottage was spotless and beautifully presented, with a fully equipped kitchen that had a hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, and washing machine. The ensuite bathroom gave us extra comfort and privacy over a busy Durham Miners' Gala weekend. We felt really well looked after, and it's a perfect base for visiting Durham. We had such a wonderful stay that we've already booked for next year. We wouldn't stay anywhere else now.

The host was very accommodating, and we look forward to coming back. We stayed while visiting family and the apartment was perfect, beautifully refurbished, and had everything we needed. It's only a short drive into the city centre, with a nice pub on the corner. Highly recommend it!

We drove a long way from Surrey to visit Durham University, and the cottages were easy to find and access. They're lovely, high-end little places, with a standard that couldn't have been better. You get luxury at a great price. The fab pub is just a short stumble away, with a great menu and atmosphere. The university is nearby too, as is the fabulous city of Durham. Hopefully my son gets his place, so we can return to this perfect little corner of the world!

We left something valuable behind and had to come back for it. The cleaner had put it somewhere safe for us, and the owner was very pleasant and helpful. Can't praise either of them enough. The accommodation was excellent, clean, and extremely comfortable, with a large bed and a superb bathroom.
