The hosts were so kind and helpful, and we’d definitely come back. The stairs are very steep, as you might expect in an older house. The room itself was spacious, with a fridge, microwave, wardrobe, settee, table and chair, bedside tables, lamps, and tea making things. Tea, coffee, water and biscuits were provided, along with pristine white towels and bedding, though we did spot marks on some of the bedding and pillows. The room and bathroom could use some TLC. We couldn’t shut the slightly open window, which left the room cold, and the beds felt a bit too high. Breakfast came with the price, but you had to order the night before and the slip offered limited choices. There was a generous bowl of porridge, a good cereal selection, a small English breakfast, plenty of scrambled eggs, toast, butter, jams and fresh fruit. The only awkward bit was that the cooked food arrived almost as soon as we’d started on the cereal and porridge.

A sweet, welcoming host, a cosy little place, and a really good breakfast that kept us full.

We were in town for a family party and stayed one night. The room was basic but spotless, with a hot shower and a comfy bed. Breakfast was cracking. I’d happily stay again.

The bus from right outside the guest house made getting into Durham quick and easy, and it’s a beautiful city. We also really appreciated the help choosing restaurants. Our room was lovely, beautiful to stay in, and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was superb too. Thanks so much, we’ll stay with you again next time we visit. Many thanks again, Sue and Stuart

Martin was so helpful, and the accommodation was very pleasant. Breakfasts were cracking, with a good menu and plenty of both quality and quantity. Next door is a friendly local pub, not rowdy, with good beer, a TV and sports bar, and quiz night on Mondays. They’re hoping to start serving meals again soon from a proper kitchen. Enjoy!
