We visited on 4/2/26, my partner and I. I ordered fish and chips, and she had the cheeseburger. My fish was mostly batter with hardly any fish, which wasn't what I'd expect for £17.50. The mushy peas were a bit cold too. Her meal came with a large serving of kale and no other salad. The pot of tea she ordered arrived only half full, so we had to ask the waiter to top it up. I had finished eating while she still had some left when he came to take our plates. He went away and kept peeping out from behind the bar, then was right there to clear her plate as soon as she'd finished. The place wasn't very warm either. Not a great experience.

A nice, quiet inn with a clean room, a good coffee set, and a restaurant and bar downstairs. Durham centre is about a 10 minutes ride away. There was no heating on September 25-26, so the room was rather cold.

The food was all delicious. Tender meat that just fell apart, fresh vegetables and homemade Yorkshire puddings. Highly recommend for quality home made food, friendly service and a dog friendly place ⭐️

We came from Leigh on Sea and were thrilled with our meal at The Seven Stars in Durham. Matthew, the proprietor, made us feel welcome and shared fascinating stories about the pub's history, which gave the visit a personal touch. The roast dinner was a perfect 10/10, beautifully cooked and absolutely delicious. The restaurant was full of happy diners, with a cosy, lively atmosphere. The whole experience was second to none, and we'd happily visit again. Great food, service and setting, and it's dog and child friendly too.
