We stopped in without a booking for breakfast and were surprised by how good it was. The classic breakfast and the butcher's breakfast were both tasty and well worth the price. Everyone was friendly and did everything they could to make our quick stop feel just right. We’ll definitely call in again, and I’d recommend it.

We’ve stayed here before, and we’ll come back again. This visit was for a close friend’s unexpected funeral nearby, so we’d travelled from home in Dorset. Kate and the team were warm, professional and easy to talk to. Kate even arranged for the chef to make me the lunch special for dinner, though she’d barely gone home herself. We enjoyed a lunch snack, dinner and breakfast, and our room was just right, with parking close by. The place has lots of charm and was spotless. Kate also reminded us to get the loyalty card and newsletter, so we can keep up with the other places too. Jx

The only thing I’d have liked in the carpeted room was a pair of slippers to walk around in. Otherwise, it was a lovely winter stay: the room was a good size and had effective heating, and there was plenty of parking. Crown Inn is well placed between the Cotswolds and Bath. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious, and the service was warm and attentive.

We finally made time to stay at the Crown Inn for my fiancé’s birthday after passing it so many times on our way to Bath and the surrounding Gloucestershire areas. Our courtyard room was cosy and comfortable, with a bath and shower, fresh milk in a flask, cookies, internet TV, a radio and books. We’d recently paid more for a spa hotel in Bath that didn’t have those extras, and its bath didn’t work properly. We had a drink outside on the benches while the weather held, then enjoyed cauliflower soup with onion bhaji and two perfectly cooked rump steaks. We were too full for pudding, though they looked lovely. The bed was very comfortable, and traffic from the nearby main road didn’t disturb us. Breakfast was a full English for me and eggs Benedict for my fiancé, with fresh juice, tea and coffee. Check-in and checkout were easy online, and meal service was quick and helpful. We’d happily recommend the Crown Inn and make time to return.

The A46 does bring some road noise, though the location is handy for the M4 and getting to Bath. Our superior double was spacious and nicely decorated, with everything we needed, plus a lovely en-suite with a bath and powerful shower. The restaurant served fresh, high-quality food, and the staff were superbly friendly.
