Hollybrook Lodges

We came away feeling relaxed and are already thinking about another visit. The park has a friendly, looked-after feel, and Cher and Matt were warm and attentive. You can see they're putting a lot into making it a great place for guests. Our lodge was clean, nicely presented and in a peaceful spot. A real gem for a weekend away, and we hope the new owners have every success.

The hot tub was lovely, and the tall hedges around each lodge gave us plenty of privacy. We stayed in the one-bedroom Pine lodge, which was spotless and had everything we needed. The super king bed was very comfortable, and the huge en suite had both a corner bath and a large shower. The owner was lovely and even gave us a lift to the Park and Ride. Thirsk, with its bigger supermarkets, is very close, and York is a short trip away. We'd definitely return.

It's a small, quiet retreat, with just a handful of lodges, so it suited us for a peaceful, romantic break. York is nearby, as are the national parks, with walking routes, the York pass and Park and Ride options among the things to do. We stayed in Rowan Lodge. Check-in was easy: we were told over the intercom it was unlocked, with the keys and an information folder inside, including Wi-Fi details and local suggestions. The lodge was clean and in good shape, with plenty of crockery. A baking tray was the one thing missing, which made a few dishes harder to cook, but otherwise it was well equipped. I'd recommend it to couples after a quiet getaway.

We've come back again and plan to keep doing so under the new management. The lodge was lovely, and the hot tub was properly hot. The location works really well for York, Harrogate and nearby attractions. We also got to meet some gorgeous pups. From our sneak preview, the new lodges look amazing, and we're looking forward to seeing them.
