Queens Arms

The staff were friendly throughout, which we appreciated. Still, our Mother’s Day meal was a letdown. The roast beef was extremely rare and poor quality, hard to eat, so we left most of it. We told the server, but there was no alternative or compensation offered, which felt surprising for a special occasion at a menu that isn’t cheap. We’d enjoyed the warm atmosphere and food on earlier visits to The Queen’s Arms, and have been here a few times. It’s a shame this meal didn’t meet the standard we’d come to expect.

We’ve never stayed overnight, so I can’t say anything about the rooms. The food is really lovely, the atmosphere is good, prices are reasonable compared with other pubs nearby, and the staff are friendly and helpful. It’s one of our regular places. Getting to the restaurant can mean making your way through a crowded bar with locals and their dogs, which can be a bit of a pain. They don’t always seem keen to make room, and it can feel like we’re bothering them. Once seated, it’s mostly out of mind, unless there’s a sports event on the TVs in the bar. Update, Feb 2026: another lovely meal at The Queen's Arms. The new menu was all delicious. The only small irritation was having to squeeze past the regulars at the bar again.

The rooms are well appointed, and there’s enough parking. Staff are friendly, the food was enjoyable, and it’s a good place to stop. The atmosphere is nice, though when the bar gets busy it’s not ideal for having a conversation.

Had dinner with friends. Friendly staff and a nice pub bar. I ordered the chicken curry, but it was basically chicken with coconut and had very little that felt like curry. The cheese plate was okay-ish.
