Best Western York House Hotel

The restaurant menu was excellent and good value, and the staff were friendly and very helpful. We also enjoyed being able to swim in the indoor pool early in the morning before breakfast. It was a pleasant stay, and we've booked to return later this year.

The room we were upgraded to was massive, though the rooms are otherwise adequate. It's an old-fashioned style hotel with modern comforts like free WiFi. The location is good, the indoor pool is a decent size, very clean and lovely and warm, especially on a cold December day. Dinner was nice, with great service, and Ruby's food was amazing. Ruby definitely deserves a promotion. Itzia the matre-d was so friendly and welcoming, and a joy to chat with. Luba was just as nice at breakfast. Anastasia on reception went above and beyond with advice and information, and her customer service was outstanding. We'll be back in summer. Good food, a nice place to stay, and some extremely lovely staff.

Our sea-view room really did have a sea view, though traffic noise came with it, as you'd expect. The place has a great front of house team and the service was excellent. Rooms are clean and lovely, if a little tired. It's an old building with creaky floors, so there isn't much to do beyond a lick of paint. The pool is a welcome extra, but the website photos make it look bigger than it is. It's very small, though it can be relaxing if you get in when nobody else is there. There are no showers in the changing rooms. We skipped breakfast because of the price and went to a local cafe instead. Location and amenities are good.

The team made us feel very welcome and looked after us well throughout. Breakfast suited our needs, and the room was comfortable and perfectly adequate. We had a great stay at the York House Hotel, which worked well for a dog-friendly holiday. There was a bit of a musty smell in the corridor, but everything else was spot on. Thanks to all the staff, we'd definitely stay again!
