The tasting plates made it easy to try a few things and share them around, which was great because choosing just one from the menu would've been difficult. The place feels roomy, so even with Covid-19 restrictions still in place, dining there felt safe. We ate in the main building, though the courtyard igloos looked tempting for another visit. Since changing hands in May 2020, it’s got a great young team, lovely decor and atmosphere, really tasty food, and an excellent wine list. I’d recommend it without hesitation.

We had a lovely tasting menu in the outdoor Igloo, and the cocktails were really good too. The staff were very accommodating, and the food was nicely presented. Inside, there was a Bluetooth speaker, a fireplace, and blankets. Would recommend!

Everything came fresh and tasty on a board to share. It’s a lovely setting, with friendly staff, and the place feels classy without being stuffy.

They gave us great service and let us put together a meal for our fussy 6-year old, who didn’t want anything on the menu.

The courtyard BBQ or fresh pizzas from the oven and grill were a tasty, good-value option while the main kitchen was closed on the night I stayed. I washed it down with one or three very good real ales. The breakfast was very good too, as the picture shows. My only suggestion is placemats so the plates don’t spin around. I slept well in a very comfortable, well-appointed double room. The pod-style tea and coffee facilities were excellent, a welcome change from the cheap tea bags and instant coffee sachets you get in most places. The Exeter Arms is a traditionally warm, friendly pub with excellent service and a welcoming atmosphere. I WILL return.
