Finding the cottage from the road was tricky. The directions weren't very clear, and it's set a little way back from the road. It's a lovely little place, simple and with all you need for a short break. Just be aware the fire alarm is very sensitive, it went off twice while we were cooking.

The cottage looks nicely done, with fairly expensive fittings, but there are a lot of problems once you look past that. The oven gets hot enough to burn everything, the dishwasher doesn't clean properly, and there are no mirrors except a small portable shaving one. Some usual TV channels are missing, and the WiFi mostly works only intermittently. In the morning there was enough hot water for only one and a half showers. Parking is frankly non-existent. There seems to be an ongoing dispute between the owners and neighbours, who rudely asked us to move the car at all hours. You can park about half a mile up the road, but expect glares from other country folk. The adverts are very misleading, and I feel let down by the booking agents. I'll be seeking recompense.

The cottage is in a lovely spot and looks lovely, but the pictures are deceptive. Parking wasn't a problem for us because we knew what to expect. Finding the entrance on arrival took some detective work, though. I like old buildings and their quirks, but the practical problems here come from poor design. It doesn't feel like a practical place to live in, as style seems to have come before substance. There isn't a mirror in the bathroom, nowhere to store food in the kitchen, and no coffee table in the lounge, though there are coasters for your cups. The small bedroom cupboard would work better as a wardrobe, with the heater moved to make room for a chest of drawers. The shower is great, but using the handheld part floods the bathroom, and there's no storage or practical space there either. We couldn't find the power switches for the kitchen appliances at first. Eventually we found some in the cupboard under the stairs, but never found the dishwasher or extractor fan switches. The cottage management company said they'd find out and call us back, but they didn't. Reading older reviews, it seems the owners haven't been willing to listen to guests. These issues should be fairly easy and inexpensive to fix. We'd love to return to the area, just not this cottage.
