Heather Glen Guest House

The recent redecoration has brought the guesthouse up to a high standard, and it made for a great stay. Jamie, the proprietor, is welcoming and really helpful.

Even though we arrived late for our one night in Elgin, the owner was still there to greet us and make sure we had what we needed. The whole Guest House was neat and clean, and our comfortable room had everything we needed, plus a little more. We had a perfect stay and would definitely recommend it!

Jamie was very friendly again, and the room and bathroom were clean. The location is very good too. This was my second stay, and I’d recommend it. Simon Manchester.

The check-in lady was friendly and tried to help, though she seemed a little flustered. I only stayed one night at The Stag and Barrel in Elgin, and the place was okay for that, but I wouldn't be in a hurry to return. With better housekeeping and attention to the small details, it could be a much more comfortable stopover. My room felt dated, with furnishings and linens that brought to mind an elderly relative's spare room. I was given a room with a separate bathroom across the hall, which won't suit everyone. There was dust around the room, grime on the kettle, cobwebs and hairs near the bath, a broken top on one tap, and an unused power shower unit left in place. The bathroom bin had no liner. The bedding was the biggest concern. The sheets were stained and torn at one corner. All four pillows had different firmness, showed sweat or drool stains, and had no protectors. The doorbell was another oddity, ringing through the entire house like a loud train station announcement, which was startling and disruptive. My overall rating would be 2.85.
