I live in Ellon, so I haven’t stayed in the rooms, but I eat at the Buchan Restaurant regularly. The Scottish dishes are varied, tasty and well prepared. It’s centrally located, and the service is friendly.

After a disastrous day of driving, I was grateful to the gentleman who let me in at 1am. The place was very clean and welcoming, and the facilities were better than I expected. Wish I’d had time to stay for breakfast, it smelled delicious.

The full breakfast was delicious, and the place itself and the people were lovely. I’ve given it four stars because my hotel mate has health issues and found all those stairs difficult to manage.

We had supper here around Christmas and it was really nice. I chose a burger instead of the typical Scottish food. It was fine, just very tall and filling. Nothing particularly negative to report.

A family-run hotel with traditional Scottish food, a warm welcome and spot-on service. The food is excellent, and the local banter is a great antidote to world-travelled cynicism. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
