The Brambles B&B

A quiet place in a good spot, just ten minutes from Cambridge by taxi. The owner was friendly and helpful, and breakfast was good, with fresh fruit and a cooked option. We brought our bikes for the weekend and it was handy having a large shed to store them overnight. Definitely recommend it.

We lost time we’d planned to spend exploring Cambridge because we had to find somewhere else to stay at the last minute. My partner and I had booked a room for our anniversary weekend, and I’d spoken with Bob a few days beforehand to confirm. It took many calls and two emails just to reach him. On arrival day, while we were already in Cambridge, I got an email cancelling our stay. Bob didn’t contact me directly until I called. He gave a weak apology, saying there were plumbing problems and our room wasn’t available. He offered a discount if we stayed another time, but the customer service was poor, so we’ll choose somewhere else instead of The Brambles. A phone call before I saw the cancellation email would have made a big difference.

We were put up here by our company for the night, with our 7.5-ton truck on the drive. I had to leave in a hurry to pick up a piano and take it back to Gateshead, so I didn’t get a picture. The couple looking after the B&B were pleasant and helpful, the place was well looked after, and breakfast was great. I slept really well.

The rooms are large, with a generous bathroom and shower, and everything was very clean. Just a few miles from Cambridge, The Brambles is an inviting place for a night or longer, with easy access to the A10 and good connections to the A14 and M11. Yuri makes a tasty breakfast.
