The staff were lovely, and the place has potential, but my room in The Grange was in rough shape. I was there for work with a few colleagues. When I arrived, the door was ajar and its frame looked damaged, though I managed to close it. The skylight wouldn't shut properly, and there was mould around it. In the bathroom, I found a moth on the towel and a smudge in the toilet. The carpets were dirty too, and there was a body hair in the bed. The leaflet in the room listed a landline number for reception, but the phone had no dial tone. It also recommended a nice nearby pub where I went for food and a pint. The walk back was pitch black, with hardly any pavement. I managed to contact reception using the alternative mobile number, and the receptionist kindly brought me a key while I packed so I could change rooms. In the new room, the TV had no signal and the heating barely worked, despite the instructions on the wall for the radiator and shower, with an unexplained -*5 in the middle. The staff were kind, but mould, moths, things not working, and poor cleanliness seem common. The decor feels very cheap, the place needs a good clean, and the bar is drab. My colleagues said breakfast wasn't great. Don't be fooled by the country estate look, at least the rooms in the ugly new-build business centre The Grange aren't well maintained.
