The room was spacious, tastefully decorated, and had an en suite bathroom stocked with top quality toiletries. We were welcomed in the library with tea and home bakes, and Carola was lovely to meet and a superb cook. Our three course dinner in the conservatory was beautifully presented and tasted great, especially for just £17 per person. The house is a lovely period building, set in beautiful grounds with a private beach and a river running through them. The old dovecote has been turned into a wedding chapel. I brought my partner here for his 65th birthday, and he had stayed here 53 years earlier when his sister lived here. It’s a hotel now, and we couldn’t fault it. Yes, I’d recommend it, and we’ll be back.

The house and its setting on Orkney are beautiful, and the breakfasts were great. Everyone was friendly, and Carola gave us such a warm welcome. She also managed to fit us in at very short notice after we’d checked out, when our ferry trip home got messed up. We had a wonderful stay and would love to come back one day. Thanks so much to you all.

The river area was stunning, with bluebells everywhere in early May, and the big garden runs right down to the beach. The place looks a little creepy from outside, but that just adds to its charm. Our room was large and comfortable, with a spacious bathroom and a bath, and we got a lovely welcome when we arrived. It’s dog friendly and about 15 minutes from Kirkwall. We had a lovely stay.

I loved the grounds, especially the magical stream and dovecote area, where the dovecote feels more like a chapel. The place is surrounded by fuchsia trees, not bushes, fuchsia trees everywhere! We had an amazing time at Woodwick House with Carolanna, and the accommodation was a wonderful experience. I’m planning to return and spend more time walking along the beach and beside the stream.

There’s a lovely woodland path down to the sea, following a flowing stream, with gorgeous views along the way. The house is beautiful, warm, and elegant, and the welcome is just as warm. The food was great too. 💖
