My friend and I are celebrating big birthdays this year, so we treated ourselves to an overnight spa break. Everything was lovely, from using the spa facilities and having a treatment to dinner and a cooked breakfast. It was a wonderful experience. I'd definitely return to this hotel and recommend it.

The room was spotless and comfortable, with a good range of tea and coffee. I also found the spa cosy and relaxing. From the minute I arrived, the staff were fantastic and ready to help with anything. I’d book again next time I’m in exeter, and I’ll recommend it to friends.

We had a lovely dinner at the hotel, with plenty of tempting dishes on the menu, and the staff were professional and clearly cared about their work. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated, and our room was clean and nicely presented. I came for two nights with two friends, booking through my travel business @BucketListHolidays. The location was a real surprise, right by the picturesque cathedral and close to restaurants, high street names, and independent boutiques. The spa was much smaller than we expected, though they refunded us and gave us complimentary drinks. There’s no parking at the hotel, but several nearby options offer safe parking at a 24-hour rate. I’ll recommend it through my business and hope to return with my husband. A lovely 5* stay.

The room size, decor, atmosphere, location, and staff were all good, but the stay left me with very mixed feelings. The worst part was breakfast: it felt badly organised, with too few staff and poor hospitality. The continental buffet was often running out of items after 8:30, and orders took nearly half an hour around that time. I also struggled to sleep on the mattress and pillows. The pillows felt odd and several people in our group complained about them. They didn’t support my neck enough, and the mattress didn’t feel ergonomic either. I was disappointed to be given a room right by a fire door with hardly any view, while others in our group had a bath or a nice balcony. The air conditioning sat inside a long ventilation structure but filled only half of it, with the rest stuffed with sponge. The place feels weird. I can see effort, but not enough attention to detail. Maybe I was unlucky, but I don’t want to take the chance again.

The room was lovely, with toiletries and the usual tea and coffee, and both the downstairs bar and rooftop bar were nice. Being right in the city centre was a real plus. But the staff’s basic politeness was lacking. When we arrived, nobody made us feel welcome, and simple things like saying hello or thank you were missing. It took away from the stay. I’d suggest looking elsewhere, especially if you’re a young professional.
