The Ley Arms

We’ll be back in summer, and definitely before Christmas if the fairy lights already up are anything to go by. This was our first visit, for my husband’s big pre-birthday celebration, and the pub looked impressive both inside and out. There were 18 of us, but service was timely. The main courses were excellent and the portions were good. There’s a good choice of vegan dishes, though it would be nice to have another starter next time.

This was my first meal here, and I came away with a very positive impression. The food was promptly served, beautifully presented and excellent. Every member of staff I met was welcoming, polite and helpful. I was especially impressed by how they’ve made things easier for people with mobility difficulties. There are handrails or other handholds on all the steps and stairs. I’m looking forward to coming back.

The food looked good, and I didn’t hear any complaints while I was there. Service was great, with a strong selection of drinks and a lovely setting. I’d be interested in staying in the accommodation, which looks to be finished to a high standard. It’s an unusual mix of modern and traditional, with a slightly dark but warm atmosphere. There’s plenty of parking. The entrance has a few steps up and down, in case that’s useful to know.

We stayed in Cramwell Cottage at the Ley Arms. It was gorgeous, beautifully decorated and very well equipped. We also held our small wedding reception in the pub and came back for Sunday lunch. The food and staff were excellent both times, and everyone was friendly and welcoming. Bertie the pub dog was a favourite. We’d definitely recommend staying here. Book for a Sunday!
