The Four Horseshoes

The staff were attentive and polite the whole time, and the Full English at breakfast was delicious and kept me going for much of the day. There are plenty of other breakfast choices, too, so take a look over that first cup of tea. I stayed one night at The Four Horseshoes Inn and was warmly welcomed. The room suited my needs perfectly. It’s an old building, so you’ll hear creaks as you move around, and some things are fitted to the space, which adds its own charm. Downstairs, the pub has character in spades, with a nice range of art you can buy. Dinner options were lovely and very good quality. Tables are reserved from early evening, which tells you the food must be good. Along with the usual bar seating, there are two small function rooms. There were 26 diners on the night I was there, a good sign the kitchen can handle the numbers. A lovely place to stay.

After a quick drink here in the summer while out on the motorbike, my partner and I said we’d definitely come back for a meal. We’ve now done that, and both really enjoyed it. I had fillet steak, and my partner had steak and ale pie. The service was amazing, with an honest, friendly feel, and the atmosphere was superb. It’s now my favourite place to eat in the area. Looking forward to going back. Well recommended.

We stayed here in our campervan and had drinks along with an amazing meal. I chose venison, and my husband had pork chop. All the staff were fantastic, especially Tracy, who was fab, fun, and great at what she does. What a great little find. We’ll definitely be back.

We booked Christmas lunch with friends for Dec 1st 2025. The thatched pub is charming, with a wonderful atmosphere and old-world character inside. The meal was delicious, and all the staff were very friendly. Our waitress Kiera (sorry if spelt wrong) was polite, funny, and attentive without being pushy. We really appreciated being asked if we wanted a break between courses. I’d definitely recommend a visit and will be back soon.
