Hendoll Barn

The setting is wonderfully calm, with woods all around and birdsong mixed with the soft sound of a nearby waterfall. I loved sitting outside there. Inside, the old house has loads of character, plenty of room to unwind, and a cute old-fashioned bar in the lounge. Everything was spotless and clearly well looked after. Francesca was a lovely host and answered my couple of questions quickly. The murder mystery she arranged was a lot of fun, with games and laughter, and had just the Sherlock Holmes feel we’d asked for. I wish I’d stayed longer!

We stayed 7-9 February 2025, a group of five with four large, well-behaved dogs. There was plenty of room for all of us, and the house felt airy yet cosy and stayed lovely and warm despite the cold outside. The kitchen and bathrooms were clean and tidy, with everything easy to find. We all enjoyed the bar, and I got to play landlord of the Queen Vic. Outside, there was loads of space and wildlife for the dogs and us to explore. It’s so peaceful that I’d like to come back in summer. Francesca was a wonderful host. Her directions were spot on, check-in was easy, and the instructions were thorough. Parking easily fitted three vehicles with room to spare. The house is gorgeous, from its two flags out front to the thoughtful decor inside. Driving up and seeing the trees open onto the house was a real wow moment. Thank you, Francesca, for a perfect weekend gathering.

Francesca was a fantastic host, quick to help with all our questions about the house and the area. We’re already thinking of booking again for longer and bringing more friends. The place feels like it could be popular all year round. We wanted somewhere quiet and off the beaten track, and that’s exactly what we found. The Welsh valley setting is full of plant and animal life, and the accommodation is beautifully furnished with interesting pieces that add to the atmosphere. There’s a pleasant walk down to the beach, with good places to grab food along the way, plus a miniature railway. Thanks, Francesca, for such a lovely stay! 😎

Francesca was helpful from the start, answering my questions, sharing recommendations for places to eat and visit, and telling us interesting things about the house, its history and the area. It’s a really lovely place. There are plenty of games in the house to keep everyone occupied on rainy days, too. We’re looking forward to coming back for a murder mystery evening.
