Travelrest Fareham Solent Gateway

It's easy to walk from here to Fareham city centre and the train station, which is why I've used this hotel for years. There's also a family pub next door with a good salad bar. The staff were friendly and helpful, but told me the hotel would be closing soon and being turned into flats. My room wasn't cleaned daily during this stay. Otherwise, everything was good.

We came to visit family and arrived early, but a room was ready, so we could check in. The receptionist was very friendly. It was clean and comfortable, with tea and coffee provided, although the large kettle wouldn't fit under the tap. The room was very warm even though the heating wasn't on. The location just off the A27 is great. We had breakfast on our last morning, freshly cooked and hot. We visit the area a couple of times a year and will definitely return.

After travelling from Yorkshire, we needed somewhere to rest on the way to Southampton docks, and this did the job. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming. Our room was cosy, with a bit of a tired feel, as you'd expect if the housing development is taking over. It had a certain charm and was just right for what we needed. If you want somewhere modern with all the mod cons, this probably isn't for you. But if you need a basic, friendly place, it should suit. I had a sausage butty and coffee for breakfast, perfect for me, though they also do a full English and other options. Sorry to hear it's closing, but glad we got a night here. Thanks.

The room at the rear on the ground floor was just what I like: very large, a very comfortable double bed, a great bathroom, plenty of storage and real quiet. Cleanliness was excellent too. I arrived in a bad mood after seeing the hotel from the driveway and thinking it was a B&B. It was too late to phone the office, so I went in expecting the worst. The woman at check-in was lovely despite my mood. I'd recommend the hotel and stay again.
