The host made a real difference, staying helpful and attentive throughout, and we felt well looked after. The house itself has so much character, from its traditional architecture to the historic feel as you come up the gravel drive. It’s spacious, elegant, and clearly cared for, with original features and all the comfort we needed. The quiet country setting made it easy to relax. A memorable stay, and we’d love to come back.

Romney was quick to reply and really helpful. We had a great weekend with friends at the property, which was clean and tidy, and the house and area around it were beautiful. Would recommend.

We spent time relaxing together in the several living rooms by the fire, and had breakfast in the garden. There were 14 of us, but plenty of room for everyone. Buscot Manor was a lovely mix of history, comfort, and countryside. The four-poster beds, fresh fruit, biscuits, and chocolate were a thoughtful welcome, and the roll-top baths were a treat after being outdoors. Romney was warm and quick to respond, with useful suggestions for local delis and private chefs. The kitchen worked well for our chef’s meal, and each bathroom felt spacious and luxurious. The location between Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds gave us lots to do, from wild swimming and boating to National Trust visits and fly fishing at Lechlade Fisheries, about 8 minutes away. Mornings swimming left us refreshed, and evenings were full of good food, laughter, and rest. We’d happily return.

The host was incredibly accommodating, and left us food and drinks. The garden has plenty of parking and looks out over the countryside. There’s also a self-contained annex. Inside, the period art and furnishings suit the manor, which has a full kitchen and dining room, two large sitting rooms, and a washing machine. I think the upper floors have three bedrooms and two bathrooms, while the first floor has three double bedrooms, a single bed, and three bathrooms. The village is full of lovely old limestone houses, and you’re close to the Thames and Lechlade, with its restaurants and interesting shops. Unbelievable value, and a wonderful historic setting.

There was a generous spread at breakfast, beautifully laid out, and I was offered a cooked option too, though the continental choices were already plenty. The owner welcomed me warmly, showed me to my room, then served tea in the drawing room. My cosy room had a huge four-poster bed with a down duvet and pillows, plus a sofa to relax on. I can see why they’ve earned AA 5 stars. A proper country retreat.
