We nearly skipped pudding, but the chocolate stout cake was light and moist, and the panacotta with cherry compote was just right. Earlier, we’d both enjoyed the sides, dauphinois potatoes and asparagus. I had the lamb and my husband chose the steak, both tender, tasty, and beautifully cooked. The setting was lovely, and the service was prompt and friendly. We agreed it was the best meal we’ve had in a long time.

The beef at Sunday lunch was full of flavour and cooked just how I like it, medium-rare. I also tried the blue brûlée with apple sorbet and enjoyed it. Fabulous food and service.

We were four for dinner tonight and were glad we chose this place. The tavern feels quiet and classy, and the staff were friendly as well as professional. All four dishes, lamb, salmon, chicken, and blue cheese brulee, were excellent. The wine list is nice and the prices very reasonable. I’d absolutely recommend it.

We had a comfortable bed and a very peaceful night in our twin room. The hotel isn’t especially flashy, but it was clean and comfortable. We came back from a wedding at 10pm to find the place closed up for the night, which caught us by surprise. We skipped breakfast, though after reading the reviews I rather wish we hadn’t. The hotel seemed quiet, and while the outside could use a little TLC, the flowers were a nice touch. I wouldn’t put anyone off, and I’d definitely stay again.
