On 2nd January 2026, the train leaves you at the slipway beside an historic cannon. From Ferryside, the estuary opens up to the west. Cycling south takes you steeply up the cliff, with wonderful views towards Tenby and Caldey Island.

The beach is sandy along the shore, though it gets very muddy nearer the water at low tide. There are lovely sea views and a nice walk along the top of the beach, with trains passing in view. It’s dog friendly, and there’s a free car park by the train station, about a two-minute walk away.

A mix of sand and pebbles, with dogs welcome and not too many people around.

The beach is flat and easy to reach, with both sand and rocks. We had a lovely afternoon, and the kids were delighted to use the litter pickers here. Helping tidy the beach made them feel they'd done something useful.

There’s a free car park across the road. The beach is small, but there’s always plenty to look at. My children enjoy climbing the rocks, watching the trains and searching for sea glass. If you get the chance to take the ferry, that’s brilliant too.
