We won’t be coming back. The staff were rude, and the facilities weren’t as advertised. I’d recommend looking at places like Flower of May or Haven instead. We booked for the advertised opening date of 6 March. A week or two after booking, we had a problem with our caravan and contacted the park in early February to ask whether a refund might be possible. They refused, even though our stay was still weeks away. We got the caravan issue sorted and went anyway, but many of the facilities were closed despite the park being listed as open. The shop and swimming pool were shut, and the bar had only Fosters and John Smith’s on draft. There was no food service either. My 8-year-old son was hungry, so I ordered from a local takeaway advertised outside the pub. When it arrived, staff said he couldn’t eat it inside and had to go outside. We asked if we could leave the food behind the bar while we finished our drinks, but they wouldn’t let us. We had to go back to the caravan and leave our drinks unfinished. If zero stars were an option, that’s what I’d give.

The quiet setting suited us perfectly, with a lovely view and plenty nearby to do with young children. We’ll definitely visit again. We spent seven nights on a touring caravan super pitch and got a very warm welcome when we arrived. The pitch was great, and the toilets and showers were clean and usually had toilet roll. There was none on our last night, but that was down to feral children and parents not keeping an eye on them, not the site. The laundry was a great addition with a young child. The shop was well stocked and the staff were friendly. We loved the swimming pool, and most days we had it to ourselves. Our son made good use of the water slides. We didn’t use the bar or chip shop, so I can’t comment on those.

We had a dog with us, so the conservatory was a handy place when the on-site entertainment got busy. There’s also a swimming pool and games room for younger guests, plus a shop with basics and fish and chips on site. We arrived just before 2. The receptionist was lovely, checked us in and showed us where the tent area was. The pitches were great and had stunning views. The shower and toilet block was within a five-minute walk, even from the furthest spot. The cleaning staff did a fabulous job, though some other guests weren’t hygienic at all. It got a little windy on our last night in the top field on the cliff, and we could feel it through the tent, so keep an eye on the weather. I’d highly recommend the site, five stars.

It was the end of the season, apparently, so the shop and family bar only opened limited hours on Friday and Saturday. That was a shame. The pool, though, was open every day and was great. The site was immaculate, and it’s only a short drive to Filey, which also seemed to be winding down. We still had a great week, with plenty of other places to visit.

Our family’s holiday was ruined, and I got nothing back. I’d paid in full for a week with our touring caravan, but on the day we were due to leave, I had trouble with my vehicle. I rang the site, explained what had happened and said we’d probably arrive the next day if I could get the car fixed. I did get it fixed and even called to let them know we were on our way the following day. When we got there, they’d rented our spot to someone else. I spoke to the owner, who was rude and didn’t seem to care at all.
