Holiday Inn Express Fleet by IHG

When I was late down for breakfast one day, they were already putting things away. Without hesitation, the staff went to the back and made me a fresh plate, then brought coffee and OJ. That kind of care was there every day. They also double checked the taxi booking for my trip back to Heathrow and left a note with the pickup details for me in the morning. I don't often have such a positive experience at a Holiday Inn Express. Every staff member I dealt with at the Fleet hotel went out of their way to make things right, and I really appreciated it.

We were right in the middle of the high street, close to lots of nice bars and restaurants, but couldn't hear a thing from our room. The staff were all really nice, and even called after we arrived to check that everything was okay. They were also helpful when we needed an extra hour of parking beyond our allotted time. Genuinely impressed.

We had a wonderful stay, and five stars is the least I can give the hotel and staff. Our room was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, and the location was perfect for exploring the city. Breakfast was delicious and good value. We wished we could stay a long time, and we'll definitely stay longer as needed!

The main drawbacks were the loud music in the bar and restaurant, especially at breakfast, when the thumping disco beat was too much. Parking around Fleet is also difficult. The on-site spaces were always full, and parking is restricted throughout town. Nearby residential streets don't allow parking until after 6 pm. I found that if you get a spot, don't move your car, as there might not be another one when you return. Otherwise, this would have been five stars. If you're young, funky and travelling by train, it's a five-star stay for you! The hotel itself was clean, tidy and well appointed, right in central Fleet with bars, restaurants and shops an easy walk away. Check-in was efficient, and the staff were polite and helpful. The room was tidy, with a comfortable mattress and clever space-saving storage. It had the usual large TV, tea and coffee facilities, a hair dryer and plenty of plug sockets. The walk-in, level-entry shower had both a rainfall head and a handset, with just the right pressure and temperature. Breakfast was plentiful and well presented. The efficient, polite staff kept clearing tables and restocking, and deserve credit for the service.
