Portland Hotel

For one night, this was a really good cheap place to stay, which is hard to find in Folkestone. The bed was comfortable, the in-room basin was handy, and the linen, towels and shower mat were pristine and incredibly fresh. The walls are paper-thin, and the big gap under the entrance door didn't help, but for just one night it was perfectly fine. It's a lovely, quaint townhouse hotel with only about 10 rooms, more like a bed and breakfast, and the top rooms are very high up, like in many buildings in town. A lovely chap greeted us warmly and gave excellent service. When we found the lock on our room door needed replacing, he gathered a team and had a new lock installed in less than 5 minutes, so we could get on with our day. Thank you, Team!

A fun little hotel by the sea front, with really friendly and helpful staff. It's connected to the Skuba bar, which made for a lot of fun.

The hotel is in a great spot near the sea front, with nice walking routes that were easy to manage even with a stroller. We stayed in ground-floor Room 1, which was clean, well maintained and quite a bit bigger than rooms in other budget hotels, with high ceilings. My toddler loved being able to run around in it. We'd love to come back if we visit Folkestone again.

The rooms were clean and had a kettle for tea and coffee, and the location was excellent, looking out over the sea with the town centre only about 5 minutes away. I was there with 6 germans for one night on Sunday, 1st of June 2025. We were told to check in at the bar, which was full of people from a music Festival that had just finished near the Hotel. The Manager showed us to our rooms himself and took time to answer any questions. A band played until early evening, followed by Karaoke. All the staff were really friendly, and the Guinness was excellent. Regards, Anthony Donovan
