Our room was number 4, with a fantastic look across the harbour arm. The inn is right by the harbour, and the staff made us feel very welcome throughout a brilliant weekend. I’d recommend stopping in for a drink or booking a staycation.

It’s a charming, traditional place, and the woman behind the bar is always welcoming. The staff are polite and attentive, and the servings are generous. The downside is the lack of menu options and the long wait. I’ve been three times, so it wasn’t just a one-off, and on the last visit we waited 50 minutes. Even so, we enjoyed the meal and left satisfied.

It felt like stepping into a pub that’s barely changed since 1806, right down to the familiar regulars. It was -2° outside, but warm inside, and both the food and drinks were very reasonably priced. We had fish and chips and whitebait, and enjoyed both. The woman behind the bar was friendly and welcoming, with a lovely smile. It’s not a place for children, which honestly suited us just fine.
